Record Series Title: Benefit Accuracy Management (BAM) BATCH SERIES
Record Series Abstract: The records in this record series are completed BAM audit case files. The Unemployment Insurance (UI) Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) system (formerly Quality Control [QC]) provides the basis for assessing the accuracy of UI benefit payments. It is also a diagnostic tool for the use of Federal and State Workforce Agency (SWA) staff in identifying errors and their causes and in correcting and tracking solutions to these problems. Representative samples of UI claims including benefit payments and eligibility determinations, referred to as case files, are randomly selected and examined intensively to determine whether they were properly administered to claimants and whether these claimants were paid the proper amounts, or appropriately denied.
Record Series Active: Yes
Cut Off at End of: Calendar Year
If Other, Explain:
Total Retention: 5 Years 0 Months

Disposition Notes: Case files are randomly selected each week for the BAM audit during each calendar year. After the end of the calendar year, the completed case files are stored in paper form in a filing drawer for the duration of the 5 year retention period. Once the retention period has ended, the case files are destroyed in compliance with state standards for the destruction of confidential information.
