Archives Notes
Hickman County was established in 1807 from land once part of south Dickson County. The first county seat was established at Vernon in 1809 and moved to Centreville (original spelling) about 1823. Due to several fires in the mid-1800s, there are few records prior to 1866. The Archives & Historical Society are conveniently located at the Old Courthouse building on the Centerville Public Square.
